Time to take care of the thief once and for all.
>score
Your score must be at least 200 points, but if you followed the instructions you are way beyond that.
>diagnose
You must be perfectly healthy; if not, walk around the required number of moves until you are better. Do it outside, where you don’t need the lamp. Don't want to wait? Go ahead, you can always restore.
Okay, we're ready. Cue the Theme from Rocky.
Check yourself! You need the lamp and the knife. Use the inventory command to see what you are carrying and then take accordingly.

Treasure Room
Scream of anguish, robber's hideaway, gestures mysteriously, treasures vanish, yada yada yada.
>kill thief with knife
This is it. Repeat until one of you is dead. Never give up, never surrender. If you die, restore and try again.
The unconscious thief cannot defend himself; he dies.
or
The thief takes a final blow and slumps to the floor dead.
Or something else. There are a number of choices.
Almost as soon as the thief breathes his last, a cloud of sinister black smoke envelops him, and when the fog lifts, the carcass has disappeared. As the thief dies, the power of his magic decreases, and his treasures reappear.
Next is the list of whatever treasures the
Thief has taken from you, you left behind or gave to him. This list will vary
from game to game. The important thing is they are there, as well as a chalice
you have not found elsewhere.
Time for treasures.
>take all
Done.
Notice you took one more treasure than was on
the list:
A golden clockwork canary
This is why we gave the egg to the Thief. He of nimble fingers possessed the abilities to open the egg and repair the canary. Despite the fact that you're carrying it, you need to take it, presumably out of the egg.
>take canary
Taken.
>look at canary
I see nothing special about the canary.
Give
me a break. A moment ago it was described as "A golden clockwork
canary" and
now there is nothing special about it? Sheesh. Let me help you with the correct
response from a different version: "This is a golden clockwork
canary. It has ruby eyes and a silver beak. Through a crystal window below its
left wing you can see intricate machinery inside. It appears to have wound
down.".
Okay, one more mystery to solve. Look around the room...what do you see? It went by pretty fast, so here is the important part: "This is a large room, whose north wall is solid granite." Where else did we see a granite wall? Yup, the Temple. Temple, Treasure. That sums it up. Saying the name of the other room will transport you there. No answer "whatever", no tell granite wall, just say it.
>temple
West Temple
>treasure
Treasure Room
Time for treasures.
>take all
Done.
>down
Cyclops Room
>north
Strange Passage
>east
Living Room
>put treasure in case
Done.
If there were more treasures that you could carry in one trip, you will need to repeat the above sequence.
>turn off lamp
The lamp is now off.
>Put treasures except canary in case
Done.
>drop all except canary
Dropped.
>save
Ok.
